Home Thai ….I love you

I have a new love……. it’s Home Thai on Sussex Street.

Its always packed. Its cheap and it is truly Thai. I shouldn’t really be telling you about it because it only means there’ll be more people there! Go alone, go with a group, just go. This is how it works . You rock up to the front door… where all the other people are… and you take a ticket.

The Thai waitresses are very efficient and in a short while you will be inside, I have never waited more than 10 minutes ( hint the more people you go with the longer you will wait, as larger tables take longer). While you are waiting you can watch the window show

Once inside, you will be escorted to a table, given water, menus and a drinks list. It works like clockwork. After you have poured over the menu … not being able to decide what to have , the wait staff are there. Your order is taken and  drinks arrive and then the food starts to appear… very quickly. How is this possible in such a busy place?……..this is the kitchen.

Studying

and now this is the food……….  Som Tum $12.90  Green Papaya with garlic, chilli, tomato, green bean, dried shrimp, peanut, lime juice, palm sugar

Chicken Skewers , peanut sauce $9.90

Pad Pik Khing $14.90 Crispy pork belly, lime leaf and beans

Mussmun curry $13.50 Beef, onions, potatoes with peanuts

Hor Mok $6.90 fish fille Fish fillet red curry, coconut and basil in a steamed banana leaf

Keuw Tiew Lod $5.90   Noodle rolls, bean sprouts , hard tofu, black mushroom,  garlic chive and spicy sauce

Yum Hua Plee $ 15.90  Banana Flower salad with prawns, chicken, shallots, coriander, dried coconut, cashews and chilli jam

Pad Mamong Hinmapan $ 13.50  Chicken, chilli jam, cashew nuts

This place is comfortable even alone, cause you will be stuffed full of beautiful food and you’ll be out of there before anyone notices you are alone ( it’s that quick and fresh)

If you visit and love it , let me know on Facebook

Love anything that is steamed in banana leaves. Everything looks so drool-worthy, Tania 🙂

This is absolutely my favorite sort of restaurant with its unpretentious but beautiful food, reasonable prices, and just general air of authenticity. Wish I could join you there.

Wow! That Thai restaurant looks like a great dining experience. I went to a Thai restaurant last night and the food cost twice the price and didn’t look nearly as interesting. However, I could walk from home. Love the look of the pork belly xx

I wish this was local! I just love this type of food- fast, fresh and full of flavour 🙂 I’d also like to watch the kitchen from that birds eye view and see the elegant dance as the chefs create magic!
